Assistant General Manager
We are looking for a kind, confident and highly capable Assistant General Manager to support the daily running of The Culpeper across the pub, restaurant, rooftop and bedrooms. The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy, quality-led hospitality environment, strong commercial awareness, and excellent communication skills. They will be passionate about hospitality, interested in responsible sourcing, and committed to building a happy, high-performing team.The Culpeper is part of a family of four pubs (and a small farm in Deptford). We focus on seasonality, quality ingredients, responsible sourcing and team member happiness. We believe in hospitality as a force for good.
Responsibilities
Lead from the front and support the General Manager in setting the tone for standards, service and culture across the whole business.
Offer warm and professional hospitality to all of our guests.
Support, coach and develop managers and team members across all departments.
Help oversee the daily operation of the pub, restaurant, rooftop and bedrooms, ensuring smooth service and strong communication throughout.
Work closely with the kitchen, bar and reservations teams to ensure all menus, events and guest experiences are delivered to a high standard.
Take ownership of shifts, service flow and problem solving in a calm and professional way.Monitor labour, rota planning and forecasting alongside weekly business needs.
Support recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management across the team.
Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, licensing and cleanliness standards throughout the site.
Maintain a positive and supportive work environment at all times.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar management role and environment.
A genuine interest in responsible food and drinks sourcing.
A passion for training and developing team members.Strong floor presence and the ability to lead confidently in a busy service environment.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
An awareness of and a genuine interest in the current UK hospitality industry.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the business needs.
48 hours per week, across 5 days.
