Bar Manager
We are looking for a creative, organised and confident Bar Manager to lead our drinks offering at The Culpeper. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a busy, quality-led bar with a seasonal and thoughtful drinks list, strong product knowledge, and excellent communication skills. They will be interested in responsible sourcing, passionate about hospitality, and committed to team development.The Culpeper is part of a family of four pubs (and a small farm in Deptford). We focus on seasonality, quality ingredients, responsible sourcing and team member happiness. We believe in hospitality as a force for good.
Responsibilities
Lead from the front and set the tone for standards, service and culture at the bar.
Offer warm and professional hospitality to all of our guests.
Create, develop and maintain drinks menus that reflect the season, the rooftop concept and the values of The Culpeper.
Train and inspire the bar team through daily briefings, tastings and product knowledge sessions.
Ensure all drinks are consistently served to a high standard with care, speed and attention to detail.
Manage ordering, stock control, wastage and gross profit in line with business targets.
Collaborate closely with the kitchen and senior management teams to ensure the drinks offering feels seasonal, exciting and commercially strong.
Support recruitment, rota planning, training and performance management for the bar team.
Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, cleanliness and maintenance standards.
Maintain a positive and supportive work environment at all times.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar role and environment.
Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer and spirits.
A genuine interest in responsible food and drinks sourcing.
A passion for training and developing team members.
Good understanding of stock management, cost control and bar operations.
An awareness of and a genuine interest in the current UK hospitality industry.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the business needs.
48 hours per week, across 5 days.
