Earlier in the summer we welcomed @openseas_crew and @patagonia to The Duke, to support their #DivedNotDredged campaign. A powerful evening of conversation, tapas and truth-telling about sustainable seafood, especially when it comes to Scottish scallops.
We heard from brilliant voices championing better practices, including:
• Nick, Orkney scallop hand diver
• Isabelle from @foodmadegood
• Peter, Head Chef at The Duke and Head of Sustainability at The Culpeper Family
• Caroline, founder of @sole_of_discretion
• Andrea, Sustainable Seafood Officer at @openseas_crew
We served up seafood tapas while discussing the importance of choosing #DivedNotDredged.
One clear takeaway from the evening: we need policy change, not just better choices on the plate. If you’d like to support the call for a modern #InshoreLimit to ban bottom-trawling and dredging in Scottish coastal waters, you can find the link in our Stories or via the @ourseas_scot website.
